Harvest

This year to celebrate Harvest we collected items for a shoe box appeal. Shoeboxes were filled with gifts for children in other countries who may not have toys, toiletries and little luxuries, perhaps because of war or unrest. We worked together to make over 30 showboxes suitable for boys and girls aged 5 - 11 years old. Our parcels were collected and are now on their way to help put a smile on some other children's faces.

Children in Need

We have just had our Children In Need fundraising day, raising £205.48. We paid a 'fine' to wear Pudsey colours for the day and we raised extra money by having a teddy bears' picnic, holding a soft-toy raffle, selling cakes and holding a mini-fair where the games were made by an enterprising trio of three boys.

Violins, recorders, ocarinas and anything else that plays!

Children in Year 5 began learning how to play the violin in 2008. The Kent Messenger newspaper was also interested. Click here to read their report. Some of the children decided to continue into a second year and did so well that they played to parents and friends at our open afternoon and concert in July. Not to be outdone, all the children in KS2 played or sang in the concert.

From September 2009, children in KS2 will all be learning to play musical instruments. Year 3 will learn the ocarina, Year 4 are learning the recorder, Year 5 are aspiring to be djembe drummers and Year 6 are starting the violin. We also have children opting to learn the guitar.

The Schools Prom

Monday 10th November 2008 was a very special day for our choir of Year 5 and 6 children who took part in the Schools Prom at the Royal Albert Hall. It was the end product of weeks of rehearsal of some specially composed Autumn songs for the Kent Massed Choir of 500 children, sponsored by 'Sing Up.' Parents joined us for the concert and everyone took part in the traditional finale, singing 'Land of Hope and Glory.'

Well done to everyone who took part - a proud day for us all to remember.

Carol Singing

Our KS2 choir will be singing carols around Maidstone in December, helping to raise money for charites and delighting shoppers in the Mall. Do come and hear our singing and join in if you know the carols.

Christmas Fayre

Come and join us on Friday 4th December, 3 -5 pm, at the Town site for our Christmas Fayre. We will start with some carols and then why not come and meet Father Christmas (ho, ho, ho!) buy cakes, refreshements or have a go on our stalls and raffle? Lots of fun for everyone!
