Into the Rainforest

To kick our new topic off we had a full day of excitement. We started the day off like a normal launch day by admiring all the amazing outfits that people were wearing. We had cats, black panthers, butterflies, monkeys and tigers. After assembly we found out that we were going on a trip so we needed to think about what we were going to pack in our suitcases. So, we discussed what sort of things we need in the Rainforest and what would be pointless. We then remembered we need passports so as a class we made our own passports ready for the plane journey. Our plane journey was long and tiring. The seats even started to shake and when we landed the heat and humidity hit us. We were soaking wet when we got off the plane. Throughout the day, we went hunting for animals and fruits in the Rainforest. We found: elephants, black panthers, bears, jaguars, pineapples, bananas and more. After this, we were given a challenge to find some letters hidden around the Rainforest/school that spell a special word... explorers. When we came back to England, we were happy as it was a tiring day but it was great fun.

Throughout this topic we have been researching all about deforestation and whether it is a good idea to cut down trees or not. For the children to really engage with critical thinking and making sure that they listen to both views we held a debate. Everyone had a chance to speak and argue whether deforestation should continue or not.
