Kingfishers - Year 3/4

Welcome to Kingfishers!

What a fantastic start to the term we've had! The children have settled in really quickly and every adult who has popped in to see us has commented on what a lovely class we are. I couldn't agree more!

If you would like to speak with me  please see me on the playground after school or make an appointment via the school office. I am keen to meet all parents and carers and to have an open door to you.

A few important details:

  • Register closes at 0900 every day. Gates open at 0845.
  • PE on Tuesdays. See main website for details of kit - pupils will not be allowed to take part without their PE kit.
  • Spelling homework is set every Friday and Mathletics tasks will be set on an Ad Hoc basis. All pupils have been given their Mathletics log in details.
  • Topic homework is set every other Friday and pupils have 2 weeks to complete it in. Each fortnight they will be given a choice of 2 tasks - they should choose one task.
  • If there are any difficulties or problems with homework children must speak to Mr Cripps or Mrs Cole before it is due in. We are here to help!

During our Maths, we have been using different practical methods to solve problems and explain why and how we got to our answer.

On Friday 9th November, we had our own remembrance service lead by Mrs Magner. We sang songs that were important to the wars and we also witnessed the laying of the wreaths. Throughout the week, we have learnt different things about Remembrance Day and that it used to be called Armistice Day before World War 2. Mr Lacey played the last post which the flags were lowered and the minute silence was emotional and thoughtful.
