Welcome to Swallows!
We kicked off our new topic in KS1 with a fantastic Jurassic launch day. On the day we saw a whole array of dinosaurs, cave people and palaeontologists; everyone looked awesome! We took part in lots of exciting activities such as: excavation digs, buried dinosaurs, fossil making, dino-dancing and sketching.
Guess who made a visit to KS1 this week? Our teachers told us they had a surprise for us, and when we went into the hall, two real-life paramedics were there! Sian and Anna brought along one of their awesome ambulances to show us. They told us all about their jobs as paramedics, showed us around the ambulance and even immobilised Mrs Bourdillon! We were also lucky enough to see the emergency lights and hear the sirens. What an amazing day!
We were very lucky to have a visit from a little alien in our school hall today. She had come to teach us about some of the planets in the solar system and we followed her on an adventure to find the grumpy baddie and turn him good again. We had a wonderful time!
Our workshop was given by 'Perform for schools' and they gave out leaflets with information about after school groups which are held in the local area.
Today in KS1 we enjoyed starting our new topic called 'Zoom!'. We took part in lots of different activities throughout the day. Our favourite activity was painting pictures of different vehicles. We can't wait for our next launch day!
There will be no homework over the Christmas holidays – enjoy the festivities with your families and maybe share some reading books.
We have been absolutely amazed at the fabulous homework in both Year 1 and 2 this term and thank you all for your continued and invaluable support.
A huge thank you to all of our families for their generous gifts and cards, all of our staff really appreciate it.
Merry Christmas to you all, have a safe and restful holiday,
We look forward to seeing you all back at school in the New Year!
The Year 1 and 2 Team
Swallows Class have been making their Sock Snowmen to sell at the Christmas Fayre. Thank you to all the children and parents who donated baby socks, buttons and ribbons and well done to the children for putting it all together to make such unique snowmen!
This week in KS1 we took part in a Science experiment where we created our own gas. We began by making predictions about which liquid we thought would cause the greatest reaction. In order to do this we were required to place bicarbonate of soda into three different liquids to see which one would inflate the balloon. We had lots of fun :)
