This week Reverend Ian came in to talk to us about Christmas. We have been learning about 'what are the signs of Christmas in church?' He brought in lots of objects that you will see in church at Christmas time and put on his special robes. We learnt that during advent the vicar wears purple and that there are 5 candles 4 purple and 1 white candle. Each new week of advent a candle is lit to represent hope, faith, joy and peace with the white candle being lit to celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas day.
Reverend Ian also brought in the nativity scene, wreath and his special robes that he wears on Christmas day which are white and gold.
Mrs Finn and myself hope you all had a wonderful half term and enjoyed the lovely sunshine we were luck to have for most of the week. The children all looked amazing in their costumes for our launch day for our new topic Fire, Fire. This week we have been learning facts about the Fire of London and have written questions using question words and putting a question mark at the end of our sentences. In maths we have been using shapes to help us learn about fractions. We have folded shapes into halves and quarters. See below for this weeks photos.
Welcome to Swift class. We have had a fantastic start to our new school year with our launch day 'Walk The Plank'. The children really enjoyed dressing up as Pirates and talking part in various pirate activities. They looked amazing in their costumes. This week a home learning activity will be coming home on Friday, related to our new topic. Children will have 2 weeks to complete the activity and then bring in to share with the class.
