Lesson 17: write an alternative story ending

In this lesson you will:

• use your plan (comic strip, storyboard or map) to write a story
• use what you know about a character (Auggie) to write using his voice
• check writing against the Year 5 writing standards for quality 

Look at the alternative story ending that you planned yesterday. Are you still happy with this ending? Would this be a satisfactory ending for the book? Would the reader be happy with this? Make adjustments to your story if you need to; if not, carry on.

If you chose a comic strip for your story ending, each box will be a paragraph. If you used a story map, consider how your annotations (writing) can be paragraphed: you are going to write between 5 and 8 paragraphs.

Taking each section at a time, write your alternative ending for Wonder. It would be useful to have a copy of the Year 5 writing standards by your side so that you can check what to include. In particular, use a range of punctuation and also a range of sentence styles. You did this in class really well - you've got this!
