Good morning everyone, welcome to week 3.  I hope you all had a good rest over the weekend and are ready to learn this week.  We will be learning about the River Nile and producing a non-fiction text, thinking about the different classifications of vertebrates in science, and beginning to make our own Egyptian style jewellery in DT.  Don’t forget to email your work to your teachers!  We have also got Live lessons every day at 11am and story time at 1pm and some assignments set on Teams, so have a look and see what you can do!

The Phoenix Code by Helen Moss

Today we’re listening to chapter 12 of the Phoenix code told by Mrs Bourdillon

After listening and reading make a list of the characters we have met so far.  Think about what we know about them, are they suspects?  Who do you think is going to turn out to be the villain of the book?  Think of all the peripheral characters we have seen, why has the author included them specifically, do they all have a part to play in the story?

Wider Curriculum:

L.I To Understand life on the Nile

Have a look at the following picture;

What can you see.  What do you think it tells us about life on the Nile?  Look at the animals, what are they.  How would this affect the use of the river?

Watch the video up to 3.38.  The rest of the video will be covered in another lesson.

The Importance Of The River Nile in Ancient Egypt

Think about the following questions:

What food did they grow?

What are nilometers?

Who recorded the nilometers?

Why did the priests record the nilometers?

How many seasons did the Egyptians have because of the Nile?

What were their names?

What happened in each season?

What tools did farmers have to grow and harvest food?

What did they make with the wheat and barley?

What else did they grow?

What was the shaduf used for?

Which people  did the Egyptians trade with/ buy and sell with?
