Phonics

Now, for our phonics today we are going to continue to focus on diagraphs. Our sound for today is ‘oi’ as in ‘soil’. Here is the letters and sounds video for you to follow.

Lesson 23: oi (soil)

Maths

Our lesson objective for maths today is to learn the number 7! Can you count from 1-7? Can you clap 7 times? Can you do 7-star jumps?

First to practise your number 7, can you have a go at writing it- remember ‘Across the sky then down from heaven, that’s the way we make a 7. To be successful today you should be able to:

 name the number 7.

 order numbers to 7.

explore different ways of making amounts.

Next, I would like you to represent the number 7 using objects, can you find 7 things in your home then count them to check you are correct? I wonder how many objects you have if you add one more? What number will you get if you take one away?

Now, your main task for today is to go on a number 7 hunt! On pieces of paper write out a range of number from 1-7 a few times- have a look at my example. Then, ask an adult to stick them up around your home ready for you to find! Every time you see a number 7 count to 7 as quick as you can and draw it in the air using your ‘magic finger!’ I can’t wait to see how many number 7’s you find!

Afterwards, I wonder if you could find all the different ways you can make seven using two different numbers. Have a look at my example, I chose to use beads to represent 1 + 6 = 7, 2 +5 =7 and 3+ 4 = 7. Have a go at doing this too!

Handwriting

Today in handwriting we will be looking at writing the tricky word ‘go’. Have a ‘go’ at practising the word and saying it aloud to help you remember the spelling.

Now have a look at this bbc bitesize video where the phonics wizards will help you explore the tricky words! https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zf2yf4j/articles/zdrd8xs
