17.5.21:
We are very excited to announce that this week we will begin sending home either a story sack or chatterbox!!
What are they?
A story sack is a large cloth bag containing a children’s picture book with supporting materials to stimulate reading activities. The aim of a story sack is to create a combined learning experience for both the parent/carer and child. It should be a time where children and parents/carers enjoy reading together. The chatterbox is the same, however it may not have a book with it but instead resources to develop vocabulary, speaking and listening skills.
What do I do with them?
It is important that at first time is spent looking at the resources inside together, naming them, feeling them, sharing the story, and then helping your child to access them and use them to retell the story, find out more information or even use them to make up their own story. There is a guide with each story sack and chatterbox with an outline of the intention of it and the uses.
How long will I have it for?
We will send them home on Wednesday, and you can keep them at home until the following Monday, of course if you would like to keep them at home for longer than that is fine, please do let us know.
If your child does not bring one home this week, then they will the following Wednesday.
We hope you enjoy sharing these with your child and any feedback from them would be most welcome, it would also be great to see photos or even videos of your child and you with them at home. Any questions please do ask!! I have attached some photos of them for you to see the sorts of resources that will be inside them!
