* Check understanding

* Relay information in a way that others my own age will understand

Listen to P.J. Palacio explaining the origins of the book and how a real-life experience inspired her to write Wonder. Listen from 1:35 minutes onwards.

August has a condition called Treacher Collins Syndrome. I wonder if you know anything about it. In today's lesson you are going to research this syndrome and produce an leaflet explaining what it is. Before you do that, let's have a look at a leaflet and think about what ours might look like.

These will give you an idea of what you are going to produce:

Research

You are going to do some research on Treacher Collins Syndrome. What information will you need to find out? You could jot down some questions that you want to answer, such as, What is Treacher Collins Syndrome? or What are the symptoms?

Here are some links to websites about the syndrome. The websites are aimed at adults who are interested in finding out more, so they may a little difficult to read but persevere. You will be able to take some useful and interesting details from them.

Email your completed leaflet to your class teacher.
