READING SKILLS

Read the text with an adult a few times to understand what the text is about. Then read the questions carefully and use the text to find the answers. Write your answers clearly in the spaces provided.

ENGLISH

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien

Listen to the next part of the story and discuss with an adult:

What is happening? How do the characters behave? How do they feel?

Write a list of each character and their possessions:  Bilbo has plates and food.

Gandalf has a hat and staff..

Task: Rewrite the lists using possessive apostrophes:

For example:

The dwarves threw Bilbo’s plates across the room.

The low ceiling hit Gandalf’s hat.

Can you add an adjective to improve your sentences?

For example:

The low ceiling hit Gandalf’s very tall and pointed hat.

Now let's take a brain break with our English super movers on apostrophes from Monday! Click the image to start!
