Phonics: 14.12.20
Today for phonics we are practising tricky words! What is a tricky word?
First listen and join in with the tricky word song, can you remember the actions we have for each word to help us remember them? Here is the link to the song; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvMyssfAUx0
Next, there are a couple of activities you can try.
1. Make your own tricky word flash cards you can choose any of the tricky words we have learned, these are; I, the, to, go, no, he, she, we. Then the game is tricky word splat, get someone to call out a tricky word then you have to race each other to see who can splat the tricky word first.
2. For this activity you will need to make the tricky word card twice. Once you have written them out, turn them over and the game is make a match. Take it turns to turn over a card and then try to find the matching card, at the end count how many cards each player has to see who is the winner!
3. You could cut up your tricky word cards and then put the letters back together again to make the tricky words.
4. Here are some online games to help you learn your tricky words.

Christmas is getting nearer....
Last week we wrote CVC words, this week we would like you to write a letter to Santa. First begin by planning what you would like for Christmas, perhaps you could look in some catalogues or use the internet to search for some presents. Can you draw a picture of the things you would really like and add labels to it?
The next task is to write your letter. When we write a letter we need to start by using the tricky word 'to', and we are writing 'To Santa'. You will then need to write a polite sentence explaning why you are writing the letter, for example... I have been very good this year, please can I have....
Then write the list of presents you would really like, and then finish your letter off by writing 'from' and your name.
You could use this template to write your letter on:
