Friday

Friday 5th March 2021

It’s another fabulous Friday!  We have another World Book Day challenge for you to try and there are the arithmetic tests for maths.  Then this afternoon we have some more amazing art for you to look at and think about.

But before all that, let’s celebrate making it to Friday!

Spellings

Y3:

These are your spelling for this week; they are all homophones, words which sound the same, but have different meanings.

meet hear knot which break

meat here not witch brake

Ask an adult to help test you on your words.  As they are homophones, they need to put them in a sentence so you know which one to use!

Y4:

These are your spelling for this week; they all sound the same at the end but they are spelled differently.

Optician, magician , extension, explosion, exclusion,

profession, mission, possession,  fiction, direction

Ask an adult to help test you on your spellings.  Can you say them back in a sentence?

Reading Skills

Read the following text a few times to an adult then answer the questions that follow it.

WORLD BOOK DAY

Today for World book day we would like you to get a potato and dress it up to look like your favourite book character.  Think about their main features, do they always wear the same thing, what is their hair like?

Can you record a video of yourself explaining what you have put on to your potato and why?

Don’t forget to send in photos of your new best friends!

If you haven’t got a potato, you could use any type of fruit or vegetable.  You could also draw a potato on a piece of paper and decorate it that way.

Now let’s have a brain break and move with a challenge from Danger mouse!

Maths

Its Friday and that means Arithmetic tests.  You can either do them on paper and send a photo of them to your teacher or complete them through Teams for instant marking!

Wider Curriculum:  Art

Today we are going to think about how art makes us feel and what sort of art we prefer.

Look at the pictures below, what do you think of them?  Remember, art is subjective so what you like might not be the same as what someone else likes.

If you can, look at the pictures with someone else and discuss whether you like them or not and why.

Choose two pictures from the set and fill out this table, giving your reasons for your reaction to the pictures.

Nearly the end of day. Now it’s time for a little quiet, prayer and reflection with our Class worship. Click the candle.

Time for a story to finish our day. Click the image and choose one to read.

Hooray!  We are done for this week.  Hopefully we will all be together in school next week, your teachers are all looking forward to welcoming you back and being able to teach you in person.  Don’t forget to send any work from this week to the class e-mail address or through Teams, so your teacher will be able to have a look at it and maybe put it on the hub page!
