LI:  How can following God bring freedom and justice?

Christians around the world seek to bring freedom and justice for everyone they do this in many ways.

Read the following passage from the Bible and think about its message:

Isaiah 1: 17

Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow.

  • What do you think this Bible verses teaches Christians about how they should act towards others?
  • Why do you think Christians around the world are fighting for freedom and justice for people?

Your task this week is to create a spider diagram illustrated poster that demonstrates to us what you have learnt over this terms RE lessons.  Your poster can be hand drawn or electronic.  It should clearly show the big question in the middle and your thoughts and opinions around the outside.  You should use illustrations (pictures) to support your thinking and reasoning.

  • How is Tearfund bringing freedom and justice to Orbisa?

Thinking about all you have read, thought about and learned in this lesson, answer this question:

Lesson 4 worksheet

Week 3 RE:

Miss Copley will do a LIVE TELLS session on Teams at 10am on Monday 18th January to help explain today's task

Focus: making connections and understanding

LI: Explain ways in which Christians put their beliefs into practice and bring freedom and justice to others

Big question for the term: How can following God bring freedom and justice?

Last week we looked at the 10 commandments and thought about what they mean and if they are still relevant today.

Discuss and create a realistic ten ideas for life that will help us to bring more freedom and justice to the world as it currently is.

i.e.

1. wear a mask to protect everyone

2. keep your distance to protect everyone

etc

I wonder:  How do Christians and other faiths seek to bring freedom and justice to the world through their charity work?

Today we will be researching how Christian charities promote freedom and justice:

Consider the following questions:

  • What does the charity do?
  • What is their goal?
  • How do they achieve success?
  • How does this link to the story of Moses and Exodus?
