LI: To investigate the Gospels that give accounts of Jesus’ death and resurrection

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Explore the Gospels the make suggestions about the resurrection.
  • Present evidence from the Gospels.
  • Think critically about the evidence presented.

Today we want you to investigate the Gospels and find evidence that supports the idea that Jesus was tried and sentenced to death by crucifixion, did die on the cross and was resurrected.

What you must remember is that the Gospels were written some 30 years AFTER Jesus' death - so there could be false claims or contradictory evidence in them - but your job as the detective in charge of the case is to find the evidence that SUPPORTS the idea that Jesus died for everyone.

Task

Read the Gospels provided, identify and highlight the parts that provide evidence that suggest evidence that Jesus was resurrected.

Become detectives and complete the police report to show where the evidence is and the reasoning behind this.
