Our School Vision & Values
Archbishop Courtenay Primary School is proud of its Christian ethos and in 2020 we created a unique vision, that captures our schools’ individual identity and our values. We asked parents, our wonderful children, staff and governors for key words and phrases, that emphasise what ABC means to all our stakeholders and families.
We used these words and phrases to create statements, which were then put together by the senior leadership team, governors and children to create our school vision – and here it is!
We are all God's children and hope you agree with the sentiment of our vision because we believe it embodies our fantastic school and the role it plays in the local community.
Our children are precious to us and each child is loved and cherished for the individuality and uniqueness they bring to all our lives. We encourage our children to be resilient – to persevere and face any challenge they may encounter, but most of all we are proud of our children. We want them, along with all stakeholders, to thrive and flourish, enabling them to reach for the stars; to enjoy marvellous dreams and aspire to be whatever they wish...'If you can dream it, with God’s love, you can achieve it.’
After much thought and discussion, we also changed our school values too. These principles, along with our vision, will drive our thinking and behaviour. The values will ultimately support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school.
We have chosen the story The Wise and Foolish Builders (aka The Two Builders), to work alongside our vision and values. This story teaches us that Jesus is strong and dependable. If we put our trust in Him, He protects and comforts us in hard times. Archbishop Courtenay Primary School represents the ‘house’ built on the rock, a safe haven for all our families, staff and friends, particularly when times are tough. We will always support our community and welcome you with kindness, respect and of course a smile.
We believe that our vision, school values and the story of The Two Builders are intrinsically linked and this ethos will teach our children how to learn, how to behave and equip them to succeed in life beyond Archbishop Courtney.
Finally, our house names have also been revamped! The house colours have not changed, just the names that accompany them. We have chosen virtues we think define our school, our children and our vision.
Red = Faith
Green = Hope
Blue = Pride
Yellow = Courage
We hope you will support us! These are exciting times for ABC. Please look at the vision with your child, talk about it, break down the sentences and words and discuss how the vision can apply to your family life as well as school life.
Thank you
Mrs Heather, all governors and staff at Archbishop Courtenay Primary School
