Wednesday

Wednesday 3rd March 2021

Welcome to a wonderful Wednesday!  We have the next section of The Hobbit, I hope you are enjoying as much as we are! Then this afternoon in science we will begin looking at our digestive system and what happens once we have put food in our mouth!

Lets begin by moving along with those Blazer fresh boys, reading like a robot:

Spellings

Y3:

These are your spelling for this week; they are all homophones, words which sound the same, but have different meanings.

meet hear knot which break

meat here not witch brake

Its Wednesday and that means it is word search day, see how many of the words you can find.  Try challenging your parents to a race, who can find them fastest?

Y4:

These are your spelling for this week; they all sound the same at the end but they are spelled differently.

Optician, magician , extension, explosion, exclusion,

profession, mission, possession,  fiction, direction

Its Wednesday and that means it is word search day, see how many of the words you can find.  Try challenging your parents to a race, who can find them fastest?

SPAG: Metaphors - personification

Personification applies human characteristics to non-human objects.  Have a look at the area around you, what can you see, can you give them personalities?

Reading Skills

Read the following text a few times to an adult then answer the questions that follow it.

ENGLISH

LI: to include a range of metaphors

The Hobbit by JRR Tolkein

Read chapter 4  - then look at landscape of Rivendell and then find some personification metaphors to describe it

For example;

The whispering leaves, the silent lake, the moon looking down, waterfall diving down the hills among the dreaming rocks, the clouds lazily stretching across the sky.

Use the metaphors and similes we have been looking at to write a description of the  picture.  Try to convey how it makes you feel in your use of words and don't forget to use paragraphs.

Now let’s have a brain break and move with The Vamps
